Well, shit. We’re in a pandemic.

Coachella, Moose Lodge, Europe

April 2013 was a crazy month. My last few weeks went something like this…

First and foremost, I celebrated my 15th anniversary to my wife Natalie. I could not be luckier than to be married to her. Every year gets better and better.

Then on to this…

Friday 12th. Fly to L.A, practice with FLAG, drive to the desert and go to sleep, get up and play the Coachella festival, pack up and drive back to L.A, get a few hours sleep, get up and practice with FLAG again, then go straight to the airport and come home. After a few days of “normal” day to day life at home, weekend 2 starts, which consists of flying into L.A. on Thursday just in time to play a really fun set with FLAG at the Redondo Beach Moose Lodge where Black Flag did their first show in 1979, get some sleep, get up and practice with both FLAG and Descendents, then drive to the desert and go to sleep, get up again, play Coachella, then drive back to L.A, sleep for a few hours, get up and practice with FLAG, then fly home. After 2 days at home, it’s time to get on a plane to Munich, land, squeeze in a quick practice, then play the Monster Bash festival the next day, after which we played another Monster Bash festival in Berlin, and the Groezrock festival in Meerhout Belgium.

That was a crazy couple of weeks, and REALLY fun. I’m a very fortunate man to get to play this music with these bands, in these places, and come home to my amazing family when it’s all done. I couldn’t possibly ask for more.

Now I’m home for a few weeks, and diving into mixing projects for the Teen Agers, and Red City Radio, before playing the Punk Rock Bowling festival with FLAG on May 27th.

Awesome.

Back from a really fun show at the Mohawk in Austin, Texas. ALL did a benefit show for the family of a friend of Scott Reynolds’ named Dave, who died recently. We had a great time at the show, despite the sad circumstances that brought us together. Many excellent bands played, and a good sum was raised for Dave’s family. I’m glad it worked out that we could take part.

After some not-fun dental work, I’ve sufficiently recovered to dive back into some mixing and mastering. This week I’m finishing up mastering on The Thirteen, who’s record I mixed last month. I’m also working on mastering projects for The Frankl Project, The Bouncing Souls, Tim Barry, Light Years, and After The Fact. Busy x3.

Next up, it’s major practice time for Coachella, and upcoming FLAG shows. Thanks for stopping by!

It’s January 2013, and I’m about to head to Australia to play some shows with Descendents. We’ll be playing with the Bouncing Souls, Frenzal Rhomb, and Bodyjar, as well as local openers in each city. For info, check out the “Shows” section. I’m very stoked about these shows!! All these bands have toured with us in the past, and there are great friends among them. Also, I’ve been lucky enough to spend a lot of time in Australia, and you really couldn’t ask for a better place to be. Amazing!

Other news, is that I’m now playing with Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, and Bill Stevenson in FLAG. Our first show will be the Punk Rock Bowling tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is going to be a blast, since I’m a die-hard Black Flag fan, and getting to play these songs with these guys is going be a total blast. If you want more info, go to Facebook.com/FLAGband. Our Twitter page is @FLAGband. We’ll be doing more shows, so check out the “Shows” section for more info.

Other than that, I’m doing a ton of mixing and mastering at the moment. Recent work includes Astpai, The Revellers, Fairmounts, Divided Heaven, Bugsy, The Thirteen, After The Fall, Bayou, Counterpunch, G.A.S. Drummers, Jeremy Porter and the Tucos, From Hell, The Sky We Scrape, Mrs. Skannotto, Miracle Dolls, The Real Danger, and more. Crazy busy. I’ll be wrapping up the last of these in the next few weeks. If you’re interested in mixing, mastering, or recording, please see the “Studio” section of the website.

Thanks for stopping by!

It’s been a while since I’ve updated the site. My apologies for that. Apparently I’m as lousy with words on the internet as I am with words in songs.

The last couple of months have been fantastic. Descendents and ALL have had several great shows recently. Riot Fests in both Philadelphia and Chicago, a show in New York City, where I had an amazing pastrami sandwich at Katz’s deli (Many of my favorite memories involve meals), and several other excellent shows. I’ve had the chance to visit innumerable friends from the past, and make some new ones. We’ve got more shows coming up in the next couple of months.

I’ve also been doing boatloads of mixing and mastering lately. I’m currently working on new records from MxPx , a band from Claremore Oklahoma called The Last Slice, and finishing up projects with The Nerves from Germany, and Break Anchor from Detroit, Michigan.

More to come!

What a weekend! On Thursday, April 7th, we got to play at the Long Beach arena with Rise Against, Bad Religion and Four Year Strong. The show was SUCH a good time. We had a couple of minor technical difficulties, which were quickly sorted out, and the rest of the show was a blast for us. We haven’t gotten to see our friends in Bad Religion for many years, and it’s been a while since I’ve seen Rise Against as well. both of them played great, as you would expect. I was getting ready for our set, and missed Four Year Strong. It was an honor to be asked to play this show. We also got to see tons of other friends that I haven’t seen in many years. What a night.

The next couple days were spent celebrating my 13 year anniversary to my wife Nat. We went to Disneyland, and had a great couple of days relaxing, and hanging out with some of our closest friends. truly excellent time.

We had some hassles getting home though, and as of this writing, I’m waiting on a standby flight back to Tulsa. With any luck, I’ll be home soon, and back to the real world… And practice for the Descendents’ European shows later this month.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show, and to Nat for being the most awesome person I’ve ever known.
